Bidding farewell to Charlie…

On Wednesday, December 11, 2013, we bid a fond and tearful farewell to our favorite missionary, Elder Charlie Bahr, heading to the Japan Kobe mission! He will spend two months in Provo, Utah at the Missionary Training Center to study the gospel and the Japanese language before departing in mid-February for his mission headquarters in southern Japan. The Japan Kobe mission covers a very beautiful part of the country, including Kyoto (the “pearl” of Japan), Osaka, Nara, Okayama, and the island of Shikoku. We are quite partial to this region of Japan: it is where his grandmother, Seiko Takeda Higgins, was born and raised and where most of her family still live. (And did we mention that none of them are members of the church? We think this is a very inspired mission call!) Words can’t express how much we cherish this boy or how much he will be missed. But we can’t think of a finer young man to serve the Lord. He is ready, he is excited, and he has been called to serve!

About eldercharliebahr

Charlie is from Oro Valley, Arizona. He loves volleyball, sushi, piano playing, and rocket building. When he was little, he wanted to grow up to be Superman. For now he will use his superpowers among the people of Japan, as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
